This is something really new for me. When I was playing with the All-Stars team, this guy had been watching me and found out who my mom was and talked to her about playing for him with a different league. Of course, my mom had to google it first before she gave him an answer. We went to one of their practices to see what it was all about, and then she said yes. The name of the league is the Georgia Stars, and they are part of the AAU Basketball organization. The part that my mom really likes is that if I keep playing through the high school, and as I become a better player, then if college recruiters see me play and like me, then I could get a college basketball scholarship. I like it because it can make me a better player, and then I can become an NBA legend, and then one day a video game will be made that has me on it. But, my mom still says that I still need to work on being a scientist so that I have another plan if basketball doesn't work out.
The name of my head coach is Coach Ken Hancock. He formed this team himself, and this is his second year. This league is very competitive, so our practices are longer and harder. There are 10 kids on the team, and they all are very good. Five of them played with Coach Ken last year, so they already know how everything works. So, the rest of us are still new and trying to figure it out. We don't play regular games like in rec ball. They let us pick our own numbers for our jersey. My first choice was #3 for Dwayne Wade, but somebody already had that one. So, I picked #20 for Ray Allen. The team registers in different tournaments, and the tournaments last one weekend, and the winners of each tournament get a trophy at the end of the finals game. We just played in our first tournament and we won the finals! So, I got my first trophy from this league.
Our team has a website where they keep track of our statistics and have videos and pictures. You can see it here Georgia Stars 11U. The team manager has it password protected, so you have to ask my mom for the password if you want to see it.
