2010 Spring Season - Reach Higher Kings

At first my mom had said that I wasn't going to play AAU basketball this year because she didn't really like the last team. But, then this guy was watching one of our GBL games and asked her to let me try out for his team. After the guy talked to me for a little bit, she asked me if I wanted to try out and I said yes. So, she said that she would let me try out and then see what happens. She said that if I make the team then ok, and if I didn't, then I could do some more training sessions at Suwanee Sports Academy. I was really nervous because I was scared of playing with boys that were 13. But, when we went to the first tryout, I wasn't nervous anymore because everyone was cool. They had 3 days of tryouts, and I made the team! They had so many boys come to the tryouts, that they decided to split us up into 2 teams. I still don't know which team I'm on yet, but we're still all practicing together.

The name of the head coach for the 13U team is Coach Alan McKelton. We have 4 coaches for our group. And, there are 3 coaches for the 14U group. I like this team a lot better than the Georgia Stars. All the boys are really cool. The coaches make sure that everyone plays like a team and that we aren't playing around as much. We have to do suicides and run laps if we aren't paying attention or start playing around. The coaches told us that we are a family, and that if we can't play like a team, then we can't play on their team. They make us practice on using our left hands a lot because it is harder for some of us to dribble and shoot layups with our left hand. It's really hard for me.
